EARTH KIDS SPACE / Oshu- Japan
Earth Kids Space Program developed and operated by the Goi Peace Foundation offers a safe place for children to gather after school and on weekends, where they can learn about peace and harmony and respect for all life and the environment through games, stories, interactive workshops and outdoor activities.
The program currently has some 30 centres across Japan and in five other countries, all run by volunteers with the support of local governments, schools, public institutions including libraries and community centres, youth groups and NGOs, demonstrating effective community collaboration.
In December 2010, the Earth Kids Space Program was recognized as an official activity of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development
(DESD, 2005-2014) by UNESCO.
